Learning Japanese: Hiragana and Katakana

Kanji roots originated in China. Japanese is easier than Chinese. My friend who learned mandarin say a glimpse of Chinese kanji:

1. The ordinary Chinese people have to memorize a minimum of 3000 kanji (3000 shapes with different meanings, Kanji with the same sound but have different intonation while chanting will have different meaning)
2. Students must memorize at least 5000 kanji
3. Politicians have to memorize a minimum of 7000 kanji

Japanese Kanji share some same shapes with Chinese kanji, but some are different. So .. maximize your brain cell to its fullest. 

In Japan, inevitably we have to memorize hiragana and katakana as a basis to understand how to read huge numbers of kanji that have complex shapes. For that reason, hiragana and katakana is used to translate the kanji to easily understand what it means:

1. Hiragana and katakana are limited in number (Their total approximately 100 forms).
2. Hiragana is used by Japanese people to sound a kanji that originated in Japan. 
3. Katakana is used is used to describe something (name, details, etc.) that are foreign. Example: the name of another country, the name of a stranger, an international hotel name, place name in google maps, etc.
4. Each kanji will be accompanied by the corresponding hiragana or katakana for people to know how that kanji sounds and then knowing the meaning of the kanji.

For example:
 Kanji Aoi is 青, if we have trouble memorizing thousands of kanji and do not know what it sounds like (how to speak the name of the kanji), hiragana will usually be there to help us to sound and understand the meaning of the kanji. Hiragana for Aoi is あ お い A-O-I, which means it is blue.

Above is the 10 Bazi Profile of Madonna. This 10 Bazi Profile can explain why Madonna is famous for her influence and wealth. For musicians, her wealth is tremendeous compare to her peers. 

Now for the chart of your own, you can have a really different percentage allocation to every kind of profile, 0% means you do not have that profile’s attitude/behavior. The top profile will be your main profile, as it is like your default behavior, your default mindset. And the second to the top will be your sub profile, the sub profile influences your way of thinking not as much as the main profile, take it like this.. main profile is what do you think and sub profile is what your best advisor think.

You mostly and mainly think like your main profile, but you also think as your sub profile, and the third profile to the rest is just making your personality become who you are now. 

The 10 Profile can help you to understand which career is the best for you, this is the starting point now. Of course you don’t want to end up doing something for living that is opposed to the ‘real you’.

The Chinese way to know someone deeply is Bazi but the way to find out your true potential, what kind of business you were good at, and how you think of your relative or friends is by using ZWDS.

I almost forgot about Red Peach Blossom. Don’t worry there’s no blue or green Peach Blossom, it's only Red. Remember about Personal Peach Blossom? In my last blog about Daymaster you must be familiar now with the 12 Chinese zodiac (animal if you prefer).

Now straight to the point there are 4 Peach Blossom animals in Chinese zodiac they are Rat, Rabbit, Horse and Rooster. You were lucky to be born with one of this in any of your chart (hour, day, month, year, life, conception). The more the merrier, more affair, more friends, more lover, more drama. 

Peach Blossom is a popularity index or likeability index, having all peach blossom but they are all the same (your chart is all Rat) only give you the popularity. I always use Daymaster to find out if this girl is suitable for me or not. Usually the old formula is to be with your trine DM:

Meaning: Rat and Monkey are compatible , Monkey and Dragon are compatible, etc.

If you want to find a compatible friend to be around this can work out but for couple I can’t guarantee this will always work.

And the element is also important, remember the five element here’s how to understand them easily:

2. Wood destroy Earth 
3. Earth destroy Water

5. Fire destroy Metal

Destroy meaning the wife in old literature, I guess that’s true I have almost Zilch Fire element in my hour, day, month, year, life, and conception but I like Metal this is because my DM is weak my month element is Wood. That’s why I have more affinity with Metal and Earth DM.

Fermenstation 2013

I like it! That's my reaction from following the Fermenstation Workshop 2013. What is Fermenstation anyway?
Fermenstation is a workshop of making a new kind of food or drinks by a process called Fermentation. Fermentation is using microorganism to change some specific thing in the plain food itself into a new food with different taste.
You can eat jackfruit with taste like chicken crispy, really similar i even like the jackfruit crispy better than the original chicken crispy. I try it on the fermenstation so i could brag about it.

The Workshop was held on Saturday April 27, 2013 with 2 shift, first shift is in the morning at 8:00 am and the second shift, which the one I participate in, is started at 13:00.

This is the demonstration of making Nata de Melo in shift 2.

Shift 2 food & drinks include:

1. Apple Cider Vinegar( with presenter the beautiful versatile Vera from Microbiology 2010)

2. Amazake

3. Nata de Melo

4. Mandai Cempedak/(Jackfruit twin fruit)

From left to right, Apple Cider Vinegar, Nata de Melo and Amazake.
The Mandai cempedak, which can be processed to be the substitutes for chicken crispy is still need 8 days before i can eat it.












A lot of knowledge, especially since i'm not a Microbiology student, it is really refreshing for me to know things like this, i can think of some business prospects about food fermentation.

Final words: there will be ready-to-eat food from this Fermenstation 2013 on May 5 2013 in west Student Center Basketball Court. If you are curious about the taste of food from fermentation you should really go there and try some. Don't just free tasting, buy it also.
I'm going to be there also baby ;)

About Great Pacific Garbage Patch or Pacific Trash Vortex & How to Make Profit by Reducing it

First, hold your breath this is going to be a long article i ever wrote.

I read it on Kompas this week, i forgot which day contain article about the Pacific Trash Vortex. When i read it i'm quite shock to believe what i just known. How bad plastics can damage our environment.

We may know that plastics will take more than a million year to decompose. If any random readers don't know what is the cool thing about 'plastics' and 'decompose' thing. I would explain it in my own simple words.

So when you buy chocolate or candies or beverages from nearest convenience store, those treats will be wrapped in a thing called plastics. After you eat the treats, unless you also eat the wrapper(meaning: you are super glutton), you just throw the wrapper in a garbage or on the streets(for those who will reincarnate to be an imbecile in their next life).

The wrappers you discard + any others person who discard the food wrappers on earth will accumulate for a day. And not only today you or other people buy something with plastics right? unless you eat only veggies and fruits right from the garden behind your house. Plastics already accumulate since the first day it invented, i don't know who found it/how it is found nor do i care about this thing that has major impact in destroying environment.

Where would it all go? to the landfill? yeah right, like the population of human will not increase. In reality someday our growing society will conquer more land to live as our habitat. Meaning less landfill and since we can't live in the water, let's all just throw the garbage to the sea.(surely whoever done this, their next life will be in asylum or something worse)

My bad it is not someday it already happened now.

This is what happen to the creature in the sea, suffer from human selfishness wrongdoing:

An Albatross with stomach full of plastics found dead, Albatross can't eat fish from sea surface so instead they eat the plastics on surface since they might thought plastics as food as well. And yes most plastics are floating on water surface since they are really thin.

Plastics can't be digest, so those poor birds will be dead soon after they eat plastics. since it will make the birds keep starving and the plastics will stay in their body and turned into toxic substance.

I see this as my problem as well, i drink milk wrapped with plastics, but instead of just throw it away in garbage can. I will try to start a company which can recycle the plastics used by food wrappers. I can start to hire people to collect plastics from house to house, door to door and then the plastics after use can be made like new and can be used again with some technology that can delay or eliminate the toxic released by plastics. This method can keep the amount of plastics still the same or with upper bound of maximum plastics circling our life.

Of course i would make it profitable by asking some amount of money from household we take the plastics from. If possible and ministry of environment care about it, please make it a law or rule, like an obligation for every house to pay one Plastics Recylcle-Reuse company to take care of their plastics debris.

In my opinion this kind of business will last until someone or maybe me found the replacement for plastics, using tupperware maybe?

 

But that would need a lot of adjustment if you are used by easy and simple life. You would not suddenly, starting tomorrow, go to Walmart and buy fish, meats, veggies, fruits bringing tupperware so you would not need plastics to wrap your foods. Not to mention other things like chips, biscuits with plastics from the factory itself so it will need a lot of changing in the food industry itself to really reducing plastics.

ITB Student Orchestra Living in Differences 2013 and Volare 2012

It was one fine Sunday yesterday, especially when you watch orchestra played by College students whom some are my friends. The first time I watch ITB Student Orchestra show was last year, I watched Volare Piano and Guitar concert. Maybe I was exaggerating , but i was impress and salute for all the roster. 

In Volare I watched my close friend Fathimah Al-Ma'Shumah playing Allegretto Poco Mosso with Piano and she nailed it. I already know she is the best Pianist i've ever known, I even had a chance to listen her playing Etude in C minor, Op. 10 No. 12 Revolutionary by Chopin, Für Elise by Beethoven, Bad Romance by Gaga, and a lot more pieces of music. All of that just me and her, I was standing near Piano (imagining about the story of the music itself) and she was playing like Lord of Piano. 

Ok enough about my friend, now back to Volare, I like when the duets playing Sabre dance by Khachaturian, one of the pianist smack the piano in the middle part, and that was really funny. If only you can imagine or maybe you should try to watch some of your Uni Orchestra, it is definitely better than just hanging out with no meaning at all.

Well that's the memorable moment from Volare, now about yesterday show, yesterday was not a Guitar & Piano concert, it is an orchestra. So it involve a lot of Violinist, Saxophone, Flute, Trumpet, Clarinet, etc. And What i like most from yesterday is Asturias by Albenic, and they also played Soundtrack from game-which-all-people-know Super Mario Bros, and the lovely Pink Panther Theme. Oh and since it is also my first time watching Orchestra, the end of the show is a great comedy, the orchestra playing compilation of On The Floor by Jlo, Someone Like You by Adele, Terajana Indian song( my God...), Cherry Belle song(this one is super funny). Not only accompanied by Orchestra the last show was all sang by various people.

Oh and in case you are wondering how much it cost or the price of the ticket, it is relative cheap, only Rp 40.000 for day show and Rp 50.000 for night show, or around $5. The night show is more expensive maybe because it is the culture of Classical music which is more properly held in the night. And of course the atmosphere is more suitable to listen to Classical Music in the night than day.

Why Now of All Time?

I just find out a terrible truth about a dear person. I knew her since my early year in college.
Why you ask?

Should I tell something that is forbidden to be told?
I can not bear the pain of seeing this kind of thing happening to her.

What's wrong with her is none of my business, but..
It is my job to bring her back to her self again.

It is something I can tell the saddest thing i ever feel
Why her of all people?

Once again it is not my job to question such a foolish thing
It is the day i feel God really exists.

When you find out that the world is not all peace
People around you can put your life in danger

A friend in need is a friend indeed.
